Airport Weeze
(Formerly known as Airport Niederrhein) is the youngest Airport in Nordrhein Westfalen (NRW) and is located in the municipality of Weeze. It is build on the site of former militairy airbase “RAF Laarbruch” and it
started on May 1st in 2003 and is mostly used by Low Cost Airlines. The airport is homebase for
eight B737-800’s from Ryanair. Together they cover 52 daily destinations. Hamburg International has also based an Airbus A319 since mai 2009. Sky Airlines, Welcome Air, Pegasus and Transavia.com are other users of Airport Weeze with various destinations. For the upcoming summerseason, XL-Airways will
join the flightschedule, with a based B737 in Sunweb colours.
With over 10 million people living in this area, the Airport has a huge potential to grow very big. The Airport has a Travelmarket and is fit to handle a large ammount of travellers each year. Charter Aircraft or Business Aircraft can also be
seen on a very regular base on the airport Weeze and occasionally a military visitor or air ambulance flight.
Niederrhein Aviation Society, or Spotting Group Niederrhein, are a local group of spotters who have a high interest in the development of the airport. And we will keep you up to date with latest pics and news straight from
